SITELOG.TXT 4/17/09 - Had to "dumb down" some of the more user-friendly Virtual Earth implementation functionality (e.g., providing views that fill a browser window completely, are both self-sizing and self- centering whenever the browser window is resized, and change from birdseye mode to and from the other modes modes as smoothly as possible) because Microsoft keeps changing the Virtual Earth code interface, which has made maintaining such functionality on multiple types of browsers difficult (in that it's becoming more and more difficult to "hit a moving target"). Hopefully the "lowest common denominator" code will be at least satisfactory for as many users as possible. 1/7/09 - Added indexed views for three newer Cypress Lakes streets, including Purple Martin Drive, Herring Gull Place, and Snowy Plover Drive. 12/1/08 - Moved the Cypress Lakes From Above web site from http://www.allgeektome.com/cypresslakes/ to http://www.fromabove.us/cypresslakes/ in order to have a more suitable web address. [The site is ~not~ a commercial site (as in ".com"), and "fromabove.us" fits the "from above" theme of the web site better.] Please update any Cypress Lakes From Above bookmarks or favorites you might have that point to the old address. 11/21/08 - Changed (i.e., slightly simplified or "streamlined") the format for the parameters passed from the birdseye and satellite index pages (e.g., alphabetical1.asp, geographic2.asp, golfviews1.asp, etc.) to the display pages (displayview1.asp and displayview2.asp). This change should (hopefully) be invisible to the user. (The only possible negative, I believe, is that any previously saved bookmarks/favorites will no longer work, and would have to be re-saved with the new format.) The benefit of the change is that I am working on a page that will use those parameters to allow the user to enter latitude/longitude data (such as from a GPS unit, or even from an old-fashioned atlas) for other locations to then display birdseye or satellite images of those locations, too. 11/16/08 - Updated the source code to call V.6.2 of the Microsoft Virtual Earth image engine (previously the web site was using V.6.1). V.6.2 is primarily a maintenance release from Microsoft Virtual Earth, and the change should (hopefully) be invisible to the user. 11/7/08 - Added indexed views for the Fitness Center and the Swimming Pools, now that the Fitness Center and the new swimming pool appear in recently updated birdseye images. 11/6/08 - Noticed that some of the Virtual Earth birdseye images have been updated. This has resulted in better views of more recently changed objects, such as the Fitness Center and the new swimming pool (both of which did not appear in previous birdseye views). Also, some of the newer neighborhoods (such as Peavine Circle), which did not appear except as construction areas previously, can now be seen in at least some birdseye views. 7/28/08 - Updated the source code to call V.6.1 of the Microsoft Virtual Earth image engine (previously the web site was using V.6.0). The principal advantage of this change is the addition of being able to optionally superimpose street names onto Birdseye mode views. The previous V.6.0 Hybrid mode, which more-or-less combined the Street mode with the Space mode, has now been replaced - there is now a separate Labels setting, which can be toggled, both to add street names to either the Space mode or the Birdseye mode, or to remove them. 7/27/08 - Added two additional views for Cypress Lakes From Above images. Titles: "Cypress Lakes Satellite Views Indexed Geographically" "Cypress Lakes Satellite Views Indexed Alphabetically" Although birdseye images are nice, they are expensive to obtain, since they must be obtained from a dedicated manned airplane or helicopter in flight, unlike satellite images, which are easily and (relatively) inexpensively obtained from unmanned in-orbit cameras. Therefore, satellite images generally tend to be updated more frequently, even if their two-dimensional and somewhat grainier appearance make them less appealing to view. 7/20/08 - Added a page for "Distinguishing the Vultures Above Cypress Lakes". 7/18/08 - Added a page of Cypress Lakes sandhill crane nest building photos, contributed by John Ramboz. 2/14/08 - Added a few images from January 2008 to the Sunrise Above Cypress Lakes page. 1/13/08 - Added a gallery of images captured through the Audubon of Florida Eagle Cam.
